Anna beryl is currently in her first year pursuing a Master of Music and Performing Arts degree at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. She was awarded a major scholarship to study there with Professor Steven Doane.
Last summer Anna graduated from the Royal Academy of Music, London where she gained a first class honors degree in her Batchelor of Music Undergraduate degree studying with Professor David Strange. Before that Anna was taught by Rhuna Martin.
Anna is a keen chamber music player and has taken part on courses such as Pro Corda and the Ticino Musica in Switerland, International Festival in Hartberg, Austria as well as performing with colleagues at the Royal Academy, and duo and solo work in London. In November 2005 Anna was invited to perform in the Colston Hall Lunchtime Series in Bristol. This year she was successful in becoming a member of the Eastman Chamber Music Society where she has performed several major works. Anna has had masterclasses with Steven Doane, Johannes Goritzki, Steven Isserlis, Alexander Baillie, Robert Cohen, Valentin Erben and Herwig Tachezi, with whom she studied with for a term as an Erasmus student at the University for Music and Performing Arts, Vienna in 2005.
Perhaps most notable is Anna's experience in an orchestral setting, having been a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain for four years and in the summer of 2006 the European Union Youth Orchestra, as well as leading the orchestras at the Royal Academy of music and at the Eastman School of Music. In September 2006 Anna was accepted into the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra under Christopher Seaman for the 2006-2007 series.
Anna's competition success includes quarter-finalist of the BBC Young Musician of the Year 2004,and is a recipient of the Sir John Barbirolli Memorial Award and other prizes awarded to her for achievement and endeavor through the Royal Academy.
This summer Anna hopes to attend the Sarasota Festival in Florida and the Les Arcs Festival in Paris as well as freelancing and doing a variety of corporate music agency and chamber work.
Anna plays a French cello dated c.1860 under a false Guerson label.
